NCSL PCP Case Study - 6. Ravenor

Ravenor Primary school, built in 1932, was made up of seven separate wood-framed buildings with outside toilet blocks and an obselete heating system. Its frequent failure and flooding in the corridors during heavy rainfall resulted in school closures. One of four rebuilt under the LA's first PFI project, the new building opened in 2004. There is delight in the robust, attractive building but there is also regret that there was more focus on getting a new and functional building rather than a space for 21st century learning and teaching.
